Community Area of Opportunity:

Embodying the line of the Jaycee Creed, which states "Service to humanity is the best work of life," this area develops the sensitivity of individual members to societal problems and community dynamics by providing experience in community problem solving. One of the most successful projects accomplished by the North Columbus Junior Chamber was in this area and is the affordable senior housing called Jaycee Arms and Jaycee Village. Today we hold our meetings and have an office in the Jaycee Village Building.

Individual Area of Opportunity:

Embodying the line of the Jaycee Creed, which states "Earth's great treasure lies in human personality," this area provides an opportunity for individual members to realize their personal potential through training programs. One training program is "Speak Up" which gives the member the opportunity to speak and learn in front of a group. Another is "Write Up" which helps the member achieve writing skills. Members are also encouraged to participate in the "Degrees of Jaycees" program, which rewards members with a degree (levels 1-10) for accomplishing tasks in the different Areas of Opportunities.

Mangement Area of Opportunity:

Embodying the line of the Jaycee Creed, which states "Government should be of laws rather than of men," this area develops the mangerial skill of the individual member at all levels of the organization. Stepping up taking on a challenge of being a Chairperson of a project gives the member the opportunity to learn project management skill by creating a Chairman Planning Guide (CPG) and completing a project from start to finish. Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino's Pizza, started his business with a Junior Chamber CPG.

Management also runs projects to raise money for our chapter expenses and is an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs to acquire business skills. We also have social opportunities for business networking, including access to over 120,000 JCI members worldwide.

International Area of Opportunity:

Embodying the line of the Jaycee Creed, which states "The brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations," this area provides an opportunity for individual members to contribute to the development of goodwill, understanding, and cooperation among all people. Being a member of North Columbus Junior Chamber makes you a member of Junior Chamber International and allows you to attend all of the conferences and training world wide offered by JCI.
